People

Our people are key to our success. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive and empowering workplace where employees can thrive and achieve their full potential. By investing in their well-being, professional development and success, we cultivate a values-driven culture that fuels our continued growth.

Our values drive a culture of safety, inclusivity and collaboration. We embrace diverse perspectives and empower employees to grow alongside our organization.

Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics states our expectations that everyone representing Hudbay honestly and ethically engage in business and comply with all applicable laws. Our Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability and Diversity policies state our dedication to continuously improving our systems and practices. These efforts aim to protect people, foster an inclusive workplace and cultivate a sense of belonging for all.

Culture and Engagement

We aim to be an employer of choice in every region where we operate by cultivating a respectful, diverse and inclusive workplace culture that empowers individuals to realize their full potential. Additionally, we respect workers’ rights, including the right to a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.

Health and Safety

Nothing is more important than the safety and health of our employees, our contractors and the people who live near our mines. We adhere strictly to policies and practices that ensure a healthy and safe work environment everywhere we operate.

Our Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Policy sets out our commitment to controlling risks, transparently reporting on our performance, and continuously striving for a healthier workforce and safer workplace.

To ensure that safety is a living part of our daily operations, the management systems at all of our production facilities are certified to ISO 45001, an internationally accepted standard for occupational health and safety management systems. We also apply the Mining Association of Canada’s Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Safe, Healthy, and Respectful Workplaces Protocol to assess and measure our performance. Regular monitoring, self-assessments and tri-annual third-party verifications ensure our operations remain in compliance with TSM standards and protocols throughout the life of the operation.

We are building a culture dedicated to zero harm. This means ensuring that everyone who works at our sites has the knowledge, skills and equipment to work safely, and that our leaders empower their teams and actively encourage them to speak up, especially when they have concerns. Initiatives – such as the supervisor mentor program in Manitoba – aim to support supervisors in effectively engaging with their teams so that everyone understands the risks associated with tasks and the work environment.

Ultimately, our goal is zero harm – with no fatalities and no injuries.
