HudBay Minerals Inc. (TSX:HBM) (HudBay) is pleased to announce the
appointment of MaryAnn Mihychuk as Director of Corporate Relations,
effective December 1, 2007.
Ms. Mihychuk is a registered
Professional Geoscientist in Manitoba and received her Masters of
Geological Sciences from Brock University and Bachelor of Science
(Honours) from the University of Winnipeg. She has 14 years of
geological mapping experience in various parts of Canada and 15 years in
elected office in Manitoba, including four years as Minister of
Industry, Trade and Mines.
Ms. Mihychuk has broad mineral
industry experience in the policy and exploration sectors. During her
term as Minister, she led the renewal of the Manitoba Mines Act and a
new regulatory framework for Manitoba which is ranked number one by the
Fraser Institute in the top three jurisdictions in the world.
Most
recently, as
Director of Regulatory Affairs with the Prospectors and Developers
Association of Canada (PDAC) in Toronto, Ms. Mihychuk formed close
connections with industry and forged important links between the
association, industry and government, significantly raising the profile
of PDAC and ensuring that the activities of PDAC are topical, effective,
and relevant.
