Eugene Lei was appointed Chief Financial Officer in October 2022 and is responsible for providing strategic financial and capital markets leadership at Hudbay. His responsibilities include finance, investor relations and corporate affairs, treasury and financial planning, and enterprise risk management. Since joining Hudbay in 2012, Mr. Lei has progressed through several senior management roles and increasing executive responsibilities, previously serving as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy from 2017 to 2022. He has over 25 years of global mining finance, investment bankingand corporate development experience. Prior to joining Hudbay, Mr. Lei was Managing Director, Mining at Macquarie Capital Markets, working as an advisor on transformative mining mergers and acquisitions and leading equity capital markets offerings from 2001 to 2012. Mr. Lei holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University. In 2015, he received the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s CIM Bedford Canadian Young (under 40) Mining Leaders Award. In 2025, Mr. Lei was the recipient of the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business 2025 Canada’s Best Executives Award in the Finance category.
